'Just A Family Affair' Looking at my wedding photos one day I realised that, although the focus was myself and my husband, there were a million different stories being told behind the scenes. Dramas were unfolding all throughout the day: incipient affairs, longstanding rivalries and family feuds. At the same time, I wanted to return to Honeycote, the village where I set my first two novels, and felt it was about time that two of the central characters tied the knot. JUST A FAMILY AFFAIR is the story of their impending nuptials, and the repercussions it has on their respective families. The Story It might be a nice day for a white wedding, but there are a number of hoops to jump through before Patrick Liddiard can make it up the aisle. Not least the aftermath of his fathers worst indiscretion yet, the reappearance of the ravishing creature who stole his virginity, and the fact that the family business is teetering on the verge of bankruptcy again! Meanwhile, all anyone else seems worried about is canapés and corsages. Its up to Patrick to save the [wedding] day Grab a glass of champagne and start mingling with the guests. Who knows, you might meet the man or woman of your dreams. 'Marriage And Other Games' Forgive and forget? Could you...? When girl-about-town Charlotte discovers her husband has been arrested for fraud, she flees to the wilds of Exmoor to nurse her broken heart. Yet despite the slower pace of life, she finds she's not the only person whose life is in turmoil. There's Sebastian, bad boy of the British art scene, determined to drink the local pub dry while his wife lives it up in London. Then Fitch, who married the high-spirited Hayley thinking he would find wedded bliss, but is struggling to keep up with her outrageous demands. And finally Penny, recently divorced and quietly determined to have more fun second time around - but who with? As Charlotte adapts to a life without LK Bennett and Starbucks on the doorstep, she turns to her newfound friends for advice. Can she find it in her heart to forgive her husband for what he did? And if she does, will it be too late? |
